The three northern peaks of Mount Stanley: Margherita {16 763ft}, Alexandra {16 703ft} and Albert {16 690ft} are the
highest in the range and provide he best climbing. The peaks lie close together and routes vary from complex icefalls to steep rock ridges. The range offers great attractions to both climber and walker. The climbing routes are mainly snow and ice, but there are also some good mixed rock and snow climbs. The going is tough so a reasonable degree of fitness is required.

This botanist’s paradise features the fantastic giant vegetation found around 10 000ft, which includes the giant form of lobelia, heather and groundsel. Besides providing weird and photogenic scenery, they present interesting problems of evolution; for there are closely related species of other African mountains and plants of very similar appearance occur in the High Andes!!
